Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially signed a law ratifying the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran. This treaty, initially signed by President Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on January 17, 2025, in Moscow, establishes a 20-year framework aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

- Defense and Security: The agreement enhances military collaboration, including joint exercises and a mutual understanding that neither country will support an aggressor in the event of an attack on the other
- Economic and Energy Cooperation: Plans include constructing a natural gas pipeline from Russia to Iran, initially delivering 2 billion cubic meters annually, with potential expansion to 55 billion cubic meters
