Heavy clashes along the Line of Control, Kashmir after India attacked Pakistan with missiles.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply following India's missile strikes on Pakistani territory, including Pakistan-administered Kashmir, in retaliation for a deadly militant attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, that killed 26 people. India launched "Operation Sindoor," targeting nine sites claimed to host terrorist infrastructure. Pakistan's defense officials dispute this, asserting civilian casualties, including children, with at least eight civilians dead, dozens injured, and multiple areas damaged.

In response, Pakistan claims to have shot down two to three Indian military jets and launched retaliatory measures. Exchanges of heavy shelling continue across the Line of Control. Both nations have suspended air traffic in affected regions, with flight diversions and airport closures.

International concern is mounting, with the UN and U.S. urging restraint. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is engaging with both sides, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is visiting the region to mediate. Protests erupted in Pakistan, and a state of emergency has been declared in Punjab province.

The deteriorating situation raises fears of further escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors, with calls for de-escalation and diplomatic resolution intensifying globally.
