Trump has officially extended his tariff deadline to August 1

Washington D.C. - The Trump administration has officially extended the deadline for imposing a new round of steep tariffs on a wide range of imports to August 1, 2025. The previous deadline had been set for July 9, 2025.

The extension is intended to provide additional time for ongoing trade negotiations with numerous countries, including key U.S. trading partners such as the European Union, Japan, and South Korea. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the new date, stating that it would allow for further discussions to avert the automatic reimposition of higher tariff rates.
